Tirupati (Tirupati) Tataya Gunta Gangamma is prospering as the younger sister of the direct deity Kaliyuga Venkanna. Tataya Gunta Gangamma Temple is located in the heart of the city of Tirupati. The fair is held every May in the month of Gangammathalli as an angaranga vibhavam. The Gangama Jatara in Tirupati is as famous in Telangana as the Bonas, Batukamma festivals and Sammakkasarakka Jatars. It is a unique fair that perfectly reflects the customs and way of life of the people of Tirupati and the surrounding areas.

What is the significance of Ganga Jatara?
In the days when Tirupati was formerly ruled by partisans, a participant used to sexually harass the beautiful young women of his kingdom. It is forbidden for the newlyweds to spend the first night with her. Devotees believe that Jaganmata was born as Gangam in the Kaikala caste in the village of Avilala, 2 km from Tirupati, to save the female race from extinction. According to the Tamil tradition, the last Tuesday of the month is May 11 this year. As part of this, in the morning, the anointing is done to the cosmic stupa of the Goddess in the temple premises and the Vadibas are sewn. In the evening a saree containing turmeric, saffron and new clothes is brought from the Kaikala chiefs from the village of Avila, the birthplace of Gangama. The yellow saffron is sprinkled on the outskirts of Tirupati at 12 midnight and the people whisper that they will not cross the outskirts till the end of the fair. The fair starts from Marnati. Devotees also dress up in various guises, just as Gangama did in many guises to slay Alanad Palegan. The next day in this order is the bairagivesh. Devotees believe that Ganga’s mother was the symbol of conquering Kama.

The Sappara festival is held every day as part of the fair. The dome-like sapras (made of bamboo) are made and held on the body. It is known that in doing so the desired desires will be fulfilled. On that day, the Kaikala clan dressed as parents.

The most important event of the last day will be the cosmic vision. Thousands of devotees have been waiting for this since the day the fair started. Thousands of devotees lined up for the cosmic darshan on Wednesday night at 4 p.m. The Kaikala clan, dressed as parents, reach the temple and mix the clay with the blue liquid to make a terrifying cosmic image of the goddess. When all the devotees visit the cosmic form of the Goddess, the clay is taken from the idol and presented to the devotees as offerings. The fair, which lasted for eight days, ends with this event.

Gangammathalli is known to be invalid to Thirumala Venkateshu. That is why Saare gets to Gangam from TTD during the annual fair. On the four days of the fair, the officials and priests, as representatives of Srivari, bring together yellow saffron remnants, gamba, cheta and other mangaladravas with choruses and present them as a birthday present. Devotees who used to come to Thirumala first go to see the Swami after worshiping Ganga. Those who are aware of this subject still visit Srivari only after visiting Gangama’s mother in the same manner.
