An 11-year-old madrassa student was allegedly sexually assaulted and murdered by her classmate on Monday evening in a village in Uttar Pradesh’s Saharanpur district. The accused, who allegedly killed the boy by slitting his throat with a sickle, was arrested and sent to a juvenile home on Tuesday evening, police said.
Police said they have recovered the weapon used in the murder and blood-stained clothes of the 15-year-old boy, which he allegedly tried to hide in a cupboard in his house.
According to the police, the victim had gone to the madrasa on Monday but did not return till late evening. After his family members and villagers failed to trace him, they informed the local police station.
The police first recovered the bloodstained cap of the victim from a mustard field in the village and later his body was found in the same field about 500 meters away. Police said that his clothes were in disarray.
“We checked the CCTV footage available from near the madrassa and identified another minor who was seen accompanying the victim. The local people identified him as the neighbor of the deceased. We took him into custody and he confessed that he first sexually assaulted her and then slit her throat with a sickle. He also led us to recover the murder weapon and his clothes, which had blood stains and were kept in the cupboard of his house, said Saharanpur Senior Superintendent of Police Vipin Tada.
