12 crore rupees foundation stone for drinking water project in Kaliach
Mothabari: Finally the problem of arsenic free drinking water in Malda district is going to be solved. Under Bangitola Village Panchayat of Kaliachak-2 block, Jora drinking water project at a cost of Tk 12 crore has been inaugurated. On this day, the Minister of State of West Bengal Sabina Yasmin laid the foundation stone of this project. Two projects have been taken up in Sadipur and Sakullapur of Bangitola region. After the completion of the project, arsenic-free drinking water will be delivered to the homes of about 4,000 families in those two mouzas.
Minister Sabina Yasmin said that arsenic-free drinking water project is being taken up in this area in the coming days at a cost of Tk 800 crore. The biggest problem in this area right now is drinking water problem. Two such projects have been taken up in areas where arsenic-free drinking water has not reached. Work on those projects will begin soon.
He also said that apart from such small projects, another big project is being taken up in Mothabari at a cost of more than 800 crore rupees. Land for the project has been found. Tender will be issued soon. After that there will be no problem of drinking water in various neighboring blocks including Kaliachak-2 no. Residents of the area are happy with Minister Sabina Yasmin’s initiative to solve the water problem after a long time.
