Puber Kalam Reporter: 23 more Primary Health Centers to be set up in the state to reduce pressure on block hospitals. For that, the health department allocated about 23 crore rupees. Clearances have also been given for setting up these health centers in different blocks of 17 districts. Also, sub-centres without their own buildings were running at various places. Buildings will also be built there. More than Rs 9 crore has been released for 23 such sub-centres. Both the projects have been allocated from the 15th Finance Commission Health Grants for the year 2023-24.
The primary health centers to be set up are Alipurduar, Bankura, Cooch Behar, Darjeeling, Hooghly, Howrah, Jalpaiguri, Jhargram, Kalimpong, Maldah, Murshidabad, West Burdwan, West Midnapore, East Midnapore, North Dinajpur and Diamond Harbor and Rampurhat health districts. Separate budgets are kept for hills and plains. For example, three such health centers will be built in Darjeeling and Kalimpong. 1 crore 17 lakh for each. The health department has allocated 97 lakhs for the rest of the places.
As the patient pressure is increasing in the district, one block hospital or primary health center is not enough. According to doctors, patients have to come from far away to the hospital. To alleviate this pain, it was decided to set up such Primary Health Centers in several important areas. For example Jadavpur Primary Health Center in Mathurapur 1 Block of Diamond Harbor Health District. According to health officials, people in this area had to travel long distances for treatment. This time, once it is launched here, delivery arrangements will also be made. Meanwhile, it is alleged that the sub-centre buildings to be constructed in 9 districts were not running well. One was in a rented house and the other was somehow running in a house. That problem is going to be solved now.
