4 people charged after Sudbury attack

Sudbury Police say they have charged four people following a serious assault in the city of Sudbury.

It was the second violent incident in the city of Sudbury in 12 hours.

According to a post on Twitter on Thursday morning, police responded to the attack at Paris and Larch Street.

Police said a 49-year-old man was the victim of an attack at a residential building on Brian McKee Lane. Seriously injured, he was sent to Health Sciences North.

Police established a heavy presence in the area, and at around 8:45 a.m. officers entered the building to ensure people’s safety. Officers found several weapons including rifles, pellet guns and knives.

Police say it was a targeted incident, as the parties involved are believed to be known to each other.

In a separate incident Wednesday night, police responded to a weapons complaint in the area of ​​Cedar and Paris Streets.

Upon arrival, officers found a 19-year-old man with serious but non-life-threatening injuries, a gunshot wound. Police said he was transported to a hospital by City of Greater Sudbury Paramedic Services.

Police said they believe two men went to the residential unit on Cedar Street and an altercation ensued that resulted in the man being shot.

Police say that both the youths were wearing dark clothes and then fled from the spot

Police said it is a targeted incident as it is believed that the persons involved are known to each other.
