45 YouTube videos banned for serving ‘false information’ and spreading ‘communal poison’

New Delhi: The central government has banned 45 YouTube videos for spreading misinformation and spreading communal poison. The Ministry of Information and Broadcasting has directed YouTube to block 45 videos from 10 channels. Blocked videos had a viewership of over 1.3 million. YouTuber Dhruv Rathi’s videos are on the banned list. The decision was taken on September 23 based on information from intelligence agencies. Union Information and Broadcasting Minister Anurag Thakur said, “The Ministry of Information and Broadcasting has banned 10 YouTube channels for spreading communal poison and trying to spoil relations with friendly countries by spreading false information. It has been done in the past and will be done in the future for the sake of the country.”
