A new low pressure area has formed over the Bay of Bengal, the India Meteorological Department said.

According to the Indian Meteorological Department, a low pressure area has formed in the South Andaman and the surrounding sea area. The depression will move west-northwest and strengthen into a depression by tomorrow evening.

Later this depression will strengthen into a storm and move towards southwest Bay of Bengal. The storm is likely to move towards the North Tamil Nadu-Puducherry-South Andhra coast on December 8 morning. Thus it is mentioned.

Meanwhile, light to moderate rain with thunder and lightning may occur at a few places in Tamil Nadu, Puducherry and Karaikal due to the low circulation of the tropical cyclone prevailing from Kumarik Sea to North Kerala, according to the Chennai Meteorological Department.
