Karachi (Daily Pakistan Online) A large number of dead fish washed ashore near Kemari port in Karachi.
According to the relevant authorities, these fish died due to pollution in the sea, the Technical advisor WWF Pakistan Moazzam Khan said that due to severe weather conditions, floods and strong winds, the beach is disturbed. Because of this, the sediments in the Tamar area and the coastal areas of Karachi harbor mix into the sea water and pollute it, killing fish.
He said that among the fish found dead on the beach, there is a type of mullet that is known locally as boi while the other is a spotted skate that is called Sirion by the locals. Local fishermen collect dead fish to sell to poultry plants.
He suggested that these fish died due to pollution and therefore consuming them as food could be harmful to health.
