An investigation is underway against the former principal of RG Kar Medical College Hospital, Dr. Sandeep Ghosh, following the rape and murder of a trainee doctor in the city of Kolkata, West Bengal, India.
On August 9, 2024, a 31-year-old post-graduate doctor was raped and murdered at the RG Kar Medical College Hospital in Calcutta. She was found dead with facial injuries in the seminar room of the hospital.
According to Indian media, the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has been questioning Dr. Sandeep Ghosh, ex-principal of RG Kar Hospital, every day for the past 15 days. He was also subjected to a polygraph test. However, efforts to solve the mystery related to the alleged case of rape and murder of the doctor are still ongoing.
According to the report, Dr. Sandeep Ghosh is trying to explain why the hospital authorities tried to mislead the victim’s parents. The CBI is trying to find out why the head of the hospital was informed about the crime 30 minutes late.
Before reporting the incident to the principal, the authorities called the victim’s parents and informed them that their daughter had committed suicide.
The agency also proves that if Dr. Ghosh had no knowledge of the crime, why his assistants were present in the seminar room of the hospital.
According to the report, Dr. Sandeep Ghosh was informed about the incident at 10:20 am on August 9, while the body was found at 9:30 am. The police were informed at 10:00 pm
Dr. Sandeep Ghosh said that he received a call from an associate professor Sumit Rai Tapdar at 10 am, but he was in the bathroom at that time and could not receive the call.
He said that when I called back, I learned about the incident at 10:20 and I reached my office at 11.
It can be recalled that on the morning of August 9, the body of the deceased was found in the seminar room, where she had gone to rest after 36 hours of duty.
The victim’s autopsy revealed that she was raped, beaten and strangled to death. 25 internal and external wounds were found on the victim’s body.
