A young man who lost more than 20 lakhs through online rummy, was unable to pay the loan he got through the app and attempted suicide with his family.

32-year-old Sathish Kumar hails from Dinnapatti village in Kadaiyambatti taluk of Salem district. He was working at MRF Tire Company in Trichy. He is survived by his wife Divya and a 6-year-old son Ritish. In this case, Sathish Kumar is said to have lost more than 20 lakh rupees while playing rummy online.

Also, he allegedly played rummy after taking a loan through an online app. Constantly losing money, he is said to have taken loans from 5 online lending apps at one point. In this case, it is said that the loan received up to 15 lakh rupees has been repaid.


Meanwhile, it is said that the people of the online loan company called Sathishkumar on the phone every day and threatened to pay, even after paying many times more than the loan amount. Also, they allegedly extorted money, saying that if you don’t pay, they will publish a bad picture of you to all your friends.

Distraught by this, Satish Kumar has come to Omalur with his wife and son. Later he stayed in a private lodge near Omalur bus station. Unable to bear the constant burden of debt, he bought 60 sleeping pills to commit suicide, gave them to his wife and son, and swallowed the pills to commit suicide. Due to this, all three people are lying unconscious in the room.


In this case, the relatives have searched for the missing people in many places. Finally, when a search was made at the private lodge in Omalur, the trio were found passed out in a room. They were immediately rescued and admitted to a private hospital in Omalur for treatment. All three are being treated in the intensive care unit.

Omalur police have seized the letter written by Satish Kumar and are investigating the suicide attempt. Further, the fire department police and cyber crime police are investigating.
