Afghan Test squad announced against Sri Lanka, which spinner has been picked instead of Rashid?

Afghanistan Cricket Board has announced the squad for the Test match against Sri Lanka, Rashid Khan is still not included in the team.

The Afghan squad has been announced for the one-off Test against Sri Lanka starting February 2 in Colombo. Rashid Khan did not make it to the team due to his back injury.

The leg-spinner is on the road to recovery after surgery and he has been replaced by the selectors with Qais Ahmed, who will start his international career in 2022.

Noor Ali Zadran’s wait to make his Test debut is likely to end as pacer Naveed Zadran and wicketkeeper-batsman Mohammad Ishaq have also been included in the Test squad for the first time.

This is Afghanistan’s first Test against Sri Lanka and eighth overall. Afghanistan have 6 more Test series to play this year, including 2 against Bangladesh and the lone Test at home against New Zealand.

In the last 8 Test matches, the Afghanistan team won each against Bangladesh, Ireland and Zimbabwe.

The Afghanistan Test squad includes captain Hashmatullah Shahidi, vice-captain Rahmat Shah and two wicketkeepers Ikram Ali Khel and Mohammad Ishaq.

Apart from this, Ibrahim Zadran, Noor Ali Zadran, Abdul Malik, Bahir Shah, Nasir Jamal, Qais Ahmed, Zahir Khan, Ziaur Rehman Akbar, Yameen Ahmed Zai, Najat Masood, Muhammad Salim Safi and Naveed Zadran were elected.
