All four accused of Hathras incident acquitted in rape case
New Delhi : The SC-ST court has given its verdict on Thursday after two and a half years in the Hathras gangrape case. The court has found only one Sandeep Thakur guilty out of the 4 accused. While 3 accused Lavkush Singh, Ramu Singh and Ravi Singh were acquitted. The court held Sandeep guilty of culpable homicide not amounting to murder (Section 304) and SC/ST Act. Sandeep has been sentenced to life imprisonment by the court. The charge of gangrape has not been proved against any of the 4 accused. At the same time, the lawyer for the aggrieved party has said, “He will go to the High Court against the decision of the court.” Earlier, on Thursday morning all the four accused were brought to the court on hearing. In view of the verdict, heavy security force was deployed in the court.
Hathras incident took place two and a half years ago
The case pertains to a village in Chandpa area of ​​Hathras. On 14 September 2020, the case of gang rape with a Dalit girl came to light. The allegation was leveled against four youths of the village itself. The tongue of the victim was brutally cut off. The girl’s brother had filed a case against Sandeep Thakur of the village itself. Later, on the basis of the statement of the girl, on September 26, three others Lavkush Singh, Ramu Singh and Ravi Singh were also made accused. All the four accused were arrested and sent to jail.
