Montreal (Web Desk) A group of students from Polytechnic of Montreal introduced a do-it-yourself solar car called the Esteban 11, which won two competitions in the United States.

According to CTV News, the Polytechnic team won the Formula One Grand Prix and the American Solar Challenge, beating the world engineering programs of MIT and Georgia Tech students.

“As a team we work at least 100 hours a week,” said Polytechnic student Lori Gilbert Dorian, whose battery lasts up to 700 km.

Marie Rouillard, another student, said that the car charges as we drive it, if we go 45 km/h or 50 km/h, we have good solar energy and we can drive.

Esteban 11 is a prototype and cannot be driven on the streets, but the students believe that the future of solar cars is bright.

“It is not for us to throw in our school, but for those who are dreaming of such a creator in the future,” said Gilbert Dorian.
