An attempt was made to erase Netaji’s memory: Amit Shah

  • Home Minister takes a jab at Congress at the naming ceremony of 21 islands in Port Blair
  • Netaji will shine like a pole star in the history of India
  • Unfortunately many attempts have been made to erase his memory

On the occasion of Parakram Diwas and Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose’s birth anniversary, Union Home Minister Amit Shah said that it is rightly said that the list of heroes can never be erased and it does not depend on anyone’s mercy. He was addressing a ceremony to name 21 Paramvir Chakra laureates after 21 islands of the Andaman and Nicobar archipelago. Taking an indirect dig at the Congress, the Home Minister said that Netaji will shine like a pole star in the history of India. Unfortunately many attempts have been made to erase their memory but heroes’ memories do not depend on anyone’s kindness to survive. Their long trek of 15,000 kilometers – routes that even today make us shudder at the mere thought of traversing its neck-freezing temperatures.

Andaman has played a historic role in independence: Shah

Amit Shah said that some places have had the good fortune to play a historical role. The Andaman and Nicobar Archipelago has had the good fortune to play an important role in India’s independence. He built this cellular jail after the 1857 Mutiny when the British started brutal persecution of India’s freedom fighters.
