South Korea is considering giving parents 100 million Korean won (77,000 dollars or 20 million Pakistani rupees) for the birth of a new baby to increase the declining birth rate.

According to the foreign news website ‘The Straits Times’, South Korea’s Anti-Corruption and Civil Rights Commission has started a survey to determine public opinion to examine fertility promotion policies in order to determine whether direct financial assistance can be an effective solution to this problem. The online survey asked four questions, including: including if such financial assistance can encourage births and if they believe that spending 22 trillion won a year on the program is acceptable.

It should be noted that this amount allocated for the low birth rate is about half of South Korea’s national budget, which is 48 trillion won per year.
