Ayan Mukerji says Brahmastra 2 and 3 will be shot simultaneously, Part 2 will release in 2026
Ayan Mukerji’s Brahmastra releases in 2022 and has been dubbed as one of the biggest Hindi hits of the year. The Ranbir Kapoor-Alia Bhatt film was the first part of a trilogy and ended with a cliffhanger. The first film was in the making for almost seven years but the audience don’t have to wait that long for the next part. Ayan recently revealed that he will be shooting for parts 2 and 3 simultaneously, but as of now, the writing process is still on.
“We will make Brahmastra 2 and 3 together. In fact, it’s going to take us a while to write it. I know there is a lot of anticipation,” he shared at the News18 Rising India Summit 2023. He said, “People want the film (second part) to come out. But first, we have to write it without compromise. I think around three years from now we will see Brahmastra 2 on the big screen. Brahmastra 2 will release tentatively in 2026, as opposed to 2025, which Mukherjee had said earlier.
Ayan was asked about the criticism Brahmastra received, but he immediately defended it with “really good numbers” at the box office. “We got some mixed reactions. We still did really good numbers. Many people accepted our film. It did well when it came out streaming, “But I still hear that criticism very clearly,” he added.
Ayan admitted that he agreed with some of the criticism the film received. “The thing is, I accept it and agree with some of it. Some of that criticism came down to certain aspects of Brahmastra’s writing and story. I want to understand these things and make part two better.” Am.”
The Brahmastra part ended with a Shiva villain Deva regaining some of his powers. The second film, Brahmastra Part Two Dev Shayad will focus on the story of Dev and Amrita, who are Shiva’s parents. Deepika Padukone plays Amrita in a small cameo but Dev is yet to be cast.
