Speaking at the roundtable on political dialogue, DATA for Development (D4D), Challenges of Youth and Unemployment in Balochistan, Transforming Obstacles into Opportunities, jointly organized by the Sustainable Development Policy Institute (SDPI) and the Balochistan University of Information Technology, Engineering and Management Sciences (BUITEMS) with the support of the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA), the Minister said that the initiative “Data for Development (D4D)” has been adapted to the current needs of the provincial government in empowering the Baloch youth.

Unveiling the initiative for discussion, Head of the “D4D” initiative, the Deputy Executive Director, SDPI, Dr. Sajid Amin Javed said that the aim was to strengthen the capacity of the government, mainly the ministry and the department of planning and development, based on evidence. development planning in the country, especially at the provincial level, said a press release.

“This will be achieved through demand-driven, evolving program agendas that respond to stakeholder needs, robust oversight and quality assurance mechanisms, and strong partnerships,” he said.

He added the aim of the initiative was to promote and nurture data culture in Pakistan, strengthen the ecosystem for data-driven and people-centric development, planning and policy making, strengthen the capacity of the National and Provincial Statistical System, helping planning and development departments. to provide data-driven planning and decision-making by producing evidence and data on critical issues such as climate change, population and gender through research studies and grassroots surveys.

Member National Assembly of Pakistan from Quetta, Nawab Zada, Jamal Khan Raisani in his speech said, finally the government of Baluchistan has prepared and adopted ‘Youth Policy for 64 percent of the population, which is looking for carriers of employment in the framework of the policy.

“The lack of reliable and reliable data is the biggest obstacle in the implementation of the policy. This is the reason, I am personally willing to help the initiative and take the debate to the National Assembly of Pakistan,” said MNA Raisani .

Vice Chancellor, BUITEMS, Prof. Dr. Khalid Hafeez in his closing remarks, said that AI and other IT fields are very popular now, but we all must remember that without data they are useless and that is the reason that BUITEMS will launch soon. a major program, on DATA Science to fill the gap.

Earlier in his opening remarks, Dr. Luay Shabaneh, UNFPA representative in Pakistan, assured his full support for the program.

SRH and FP Technical Specialist, UNFPA Baluchistan, Sarmad Saeed Khan said that he will ensure full support at the local level.
