Banda Court: Banda court has sentenced 13 accused to life imprisonment and fine in a 15-year-old case. Two minors and 16 others were identified in the incident. 3 people including accused dacoit Ambika Patel have died while the case of 2 minor accused is going on in Chitrakoot. After a 15-year long legal process, 13 accused were sentenced by the Special Judge in Banda. All the 13 accused have been sentenced to life imprisonment and fine under sections 147, 148, 149, 302, 307 and 11/12 Dacoity Act.

The 15-year-old case in which 13 people were sentenced by the Banda Court, happened on July 22, 2007, when the vehicles of STF jawans returning from an encounter by bandit Ambika Patel alias Thokia gang in the forest of Bagholan village of Fatehganj police station area. Indiscriminate bullets were fired. In which 7 STF personnel were killed. At the same time 8 soldiers were also injured.
Ambika Patel was rewarded with 6 and a half lakhs
Ambika Patel, the gang leader who opened fire on STF jawans, had a reward of 6.50 lakhs. He was killed in the first encounter by the police. Also, 13 convicted persons never got bail in the last 15 years.
Advocate had received death threats
Advocate Pramod Dwivedi and his family, who were fighting the case of STF jawans, had received death threats, yet they did not leave the case and finally got justice for the soldiers. According to Pramod Dwivedi, he was threatened by a person named Anish, a resident of Naraini area of Banda, against whom he had filed a suit in the court. However, Anish had taken a stay in the matter from the High Court. Well, after 15 years of getting the right justice, the soul of the STF jawans must have got peace after 15 years.
