Bangalore: A sitting BJP MLA’s son has been caught red-handed by the Lokayukta Police and Karnataka Government’s Anti-Corruption Department. The MLA’s son was sitting in a private office when this action was taken. He has since been caught by the Lokayukta while accepting a bribe of 40 lakhs. BJP MLA Virupaksappa’s son Prashant Madal has been detained in this connection.
MLA Madal Virupaksappa is the Chairman of Soaps and Detergents Limited in Karnataka. A person had filed a complaint against his son Prashant for demanding bribe.
A written complaint was also filed in this case after the MLA’s son was accused of taking bribe. It is because of this complaint that the Lokayukta has laid a trap and caught Prashant red-handed. After that he was also arrested. 40 lakh rupees have been seized from Prashant this time.
While informing about the matter, the Lokayukta officer said, “We have inspected Prashant’s office. And 1.7 crore rupees have been seized from there.
He has also been accused of accepting bribes from people in the name of Prashant and his father. The money found in his office is currently being investigated and who else is involved in this case is also being investigated.
When BJP MLA Madal Virupakshappe was asked about this, he said that he did not know anything about it. He also explained this time that he understood this thing only after watching the news on TV.
The Karnataka High Court has disbanded the anti-corruption department in the state and empowered the Lokayukta.
Lokayukta is an anti-corruption authority set up at the state level for prompt redressal of complaints against the efficiency and effectiveness of government or administration. Accordingly, immediate action is being taken after filing a complaint.
