BJP MP Brijbhushan’s Controversial Statement, Gold Medalist Vinesh Phogat Called Manthra

Facing allegations of sexual harassment of women wrestlers, Wrestling Federation of India (WFI) president and BJP MP Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh made a controversial statement against women wrestlers. He said, ‘Vinesh Phogat has become a mantra for me.’
Addressing a public relations program in the district aimed at mobilizing crowds for a public awareness rally to be held on June 5 in Ayodhya, he said, “Women wrestler Vinesh Phogat is doing the same thing today as Manthra did in Treta Yuga. Earlier thousands of wrestlers were protesting at Jantar-Mantar and now there are only three couples (husband and wife). There is no seventh. The day the results come, we will also thank Manthra.”
According to the Ramayana, it was at Manthra’s instigation that Kaikeyi insisted Dasaratha send Rama into exile for fourteen years. Brij Bhushan also alleged that the protesting wrestlers till date have not been able to say when, where and what happened to them.
The MP compared the case against him to that of former US President Donald Trump. He said in the public meeting, ‘In which even Donald Trump had to be disturbed. I say this plot is not of today. That ghana has been going on for a long time, but something good is going to come out of it.”
He said, “False allegations have been leveled against me, but this allegation is not against me. Instead God has made me the means to fight this charge.”
