British Garrison Cemetery: More than 500 British graves in Srirangapatna!
Mandya: Srirangapatna is known as a historical city, home of monuments, so many monuments can be found here. But no one knows that there are some monuments here. Now let me tell you about a British Grave (British Garrison Cemetery) that no one knows about.
There are about 150 to 170 tombs in Srirangapatna dating from around the 8th century Ganga era to Hyderabadi, Tipu Sultan era. Some of these forts, moats, temples, churches, mosques have disappeared. Also, the garrison cemetery of the British era is also one of the hidden ones.
A kingdom of tombs in 3 acres!
Spread over an area of ​​about three acres, this impressive cemetery houses over 500 British graves. Due to the lack of information about the hidden Garrison Seminary, no tourists visit the area.

On May 4, 1799 AD, the 4th Anglo-Mysore War took place and Tipu Sultan was defeated and Srirangapatna was captured by the British. Later, from 1800 to 1860, British captains, colonels and deputy colonels were stationed here in Mysore and Srirangapatna.

A good place was chosen to bury the bodies of dead British officers and reserved for the British alone. Only when nobles and soldiers died, they were buried here and buried in that place. More than 500 tombstones of the British have been impressively erected here. It is named Garrison Seminary.

The tombs are built in the European Senatope style. The mausoleum is built using quick-fired, burnt brick. Bible message, name, designation, life span are engraved on this tombstone.
