A 26-year-old Calgary man was shot and killed at a campground in Rocky View County in the early hours of Sunday, police said.

His hand was injured but he said it was probably a tree that was split by a bullet.

“I’m a little shaky, but otherwise I’m fine,” Hilton said.

“I’m just taking it in stride. It is what it is. I think I would be angrier if I got shot.”

Hilton said he and his family are devastated by the man’s death. He said his family is trying to figure out the next steps.

“I just don’t know what to do. I don’t know where to go what are the next steps…we have contacted our insurance company. Our insurance company will come back to us but if the insurance does nothing, what do we do? Where do we go from there? Because now we have a shot-up trailer,” said Hilton.
