Calgary man dies in Rocky View County camp shooting – Calgary
A 26-year-old Calgary man was shot and killed at a campground in Rocky View County in the early hours of Sunday, police said.
RCMP officers and EMS crews responded to reports of gunfire at the Mountain View Campground at Range Road 284 and Highway 1 just after midnight, police said in a statement.
At the scene, they found an adult man suffering from a gunshot wound. The man died at the scene, despite medical efforts.
Police said the man’s identity will be released when an autopsy is completed, scheduled for Monday in Calgary.

The Alberta RCMP Major Crime Unit is leading the investigation, the release said.
Rae Hilton was talking to her son and was about to go to sleep when bullets ripped through the walls of her trailer. He told Global News that three bullet holes were found outside the trailer.
His hand was injured but he said it was probably a tree that was split by a bullet.

“I’m a little shaky, but otherwise I’m fine,” Hilton said.
“I’m just taking it in stride. It is what it is. I think I would be angrier if I got shot.”
Hilton said he and his family are devastated by the man’s death. He said his family is trying to figure out the next steps.
“I just don’t know what to do. I don’t know where to go what are the next steps…we have contacted our insurance company. Our insurance company will come back to us but if the insurance does nothing, what do we do? Where do we go from there? Because now we have a shot-up trailer,” said Hilton.
