Case against BJP leader, family members for wrongly holding women hostage

ShahjahanpurPolice here have registered an FIR against a BJP leader, his wife and a son for allegedly wrongfully holding a doctor hostage.

According to the police, a lady doctor alleged that BJP leader Manoj Masih, his wife Amita Masih and son Rishabh Masih along with some unidentified persons barged into her house on September 17 and took their daughter at gunpoint.

Manoj Masih is a former member of the Uttar Pradesh Minorities Commission. He has denied the allegation.

Masih claimed that a woman herself came to his house and she herself informed the police.

Superintendent of Police OP Singh said, ‘Manoj Masih called the police to his house on September 17 and handed over the woman to us. The woman refused to return to her family and has been kept at the one-stop center for women and children at the district hospital.

“The woman will be produced before a magistrate to record her statement. The CCTV footage is being recovered and further investigation will be done once the statement is recorded,” the SP said.

The police have registered an FIR under IPC sections 307 (attempt to murder), 323 (voluntarily causing hurt) and 342 (wrongful confinement).
