chhattisgarh government orders testing of kovid samples at airports, border posts to curb the epidemic

The Chhattisgarh government on Monday ordered that the samples of passengers coming from other states be tested at airports or border posts to keep the number of COVID-19 infections in check, an official said. The state on Monday recorded 125 COVID-19 cases with a positivity rate of 1.22 per cent, taking the tally to 11,53,867, while the death toll remained unchanged at 14,036, an official said.

He said that 28 cases were reported in Durg, 26 in Raipur, nine each in Surguja and Bemetara and eight in Bilaspur, while no cases were reported in 10 districts. The official said that after 64 people recovered, the number of cured people reached 11,39,074, taking the active number to 757 in the state.

He said that after 10,268 samples were tested during the day, the total number of tests increased to 1,78,68,812. The General Administration Department has written to the Divisional Commissioners, Inspectors General of Police, Collectors and Superintendents of Police to ensure strict compliance of the instructions related to COVID-19 sample checking for passengers arriving at airports in the State.

A government statement said that the samples of passengers coming from inter-state border posts should be tested by deploying health teams in coordination with the transport department. Chhattisgarh’s coronavirus figures are as follows: positive cases 11,53,867, new cases 125, death toll 14,036, 11,39,074, active cases 757, tests today 10,268, total tests 1,78,68,812.
