The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Monday lashed out at the Congress over its alleged remarks about Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, accusing it of “committing a sin”. The Congress Working Committee (CWC) meeting was held on Saturday. Citing a media report, BJP spokesperson Sambit Patra questioned whether Congress president Sonia Gandhi and former president Rahul Gandhi would reprimand Tariq Hameed Karra, who allegedly made anti-Patel remarks.
Sambit Patra said, ‘We all know that Congress is a party of only one family. How to carry forward the legacy of the Nehru-Gandhi family and how to maintain the height of sycophancy, this is the goal of the Congress. Today it has been published in the newspapers that in the CWC meeting held two days ago, some questions were raised regarding Kashmir. An atmosphere of confusion was created in the meeting regarding Kashmir. It was also said that Jawaharlal Nehru ji integrated Jammu and Kashmir into India.
He told, ‘It was also said that Sardar Patel had met Jinnah in this whole purpose and Patel was trying to keep Kashmir separate from India with Jinnah. Today it has become clear that to keep the Nehru-Gandhi dynasty above the legacy of one’s family, whether it is Subhash Chandra Bose, Veer Savarkar, Sardar Patel, anyone has to be insulted, anyone’s name. But the Congress party can do everything to spread confusion. When such things were being said about Sardar Patel, the ideal of all of us, did Sonia Gandhi and Rahul Gandhi present in the meeting said that such things should not be said?
‘Tariq Hameed’s sole aim is to make Rahul Gandhi Congress President’
The BJP leader further said, “He (Tariq Hameed Karra) himself hails from Jammu and Kashmir and his sole aim is to install Rahul Gandhi as the next Congress President so he glorified the Gandhi family. One family did everything and the other did absolutely nothing. How can Congress have such mentality? Patra further said that this proves that the Grand Old Party will insult the national heroes to increase the legacy of the Nehru-Gandhi dynasty. Karra, a former leader of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), joined the Congress in 2017. Karra, a member of the Srinagar Lok Sabha constituency, is the first politician from the Valley to be nominated as a member of the CWC.
