Cooch Behar swimming pool awaiting inauguration
Cooch Behar: Swimming pool is going to be inaugurated in Cooch Behar very soon. Construction is almost complete. The international standard swimming pool has been constructed at Cooch Behar Stadium with the financial allocation of North Bengal Development Department at a cost of around Rs.7 crore.
According to the sources of the office, this swimming pool with 50 meters length and 25 meters width has 10 lanes. Another swimming pool has been constructed next to the main swimming pool for children to learn to swim. In addition to training, ordinary people will get the opportunity to swim there in exchange of tickets. Any swimming competition of international standard can be organized there.
The North Bengal Development Department informed that the swimming pool will be inaugurated at the beginning of Bengali New Year. But more than 15 days have passed but still not inaugurated. However, North Bengal Development Minister Udayan Guha said, ‘There will be a meeting on Tuesday. Only then will the date of the inauguration be fixed.’ Saurabh Bhattacharya, executive engineer of the office, said, ‘The work of the swimming pool is almost finished. Now only the furniture is left to arrive. Very soon it will be open to the general public.’
