Cops in disguise for criminals: the payoff at hand
Mumbai: It has now come to light that policemen from around 93 police stations in Mumbai disguised themselves as courier boys and mobile phone service providers to catch criminals.
Many of the criminals who came out on parole during the corona disaster of 2020 did not return to jail even after the parole period. The Commissioner of Police of Mumbai sent a circular to all the police stations that he did not appear for the trial.
The police thought that if they went on parole and directly searched for the absconders, they would be absconding to such an extent that they could not be traced, so the police went to their addresses in various disguises like courier boys, teachers, mobile phone service providers and searched for the criminals.
So far 193 wanted criminals and 95 absconding criminals have been arrested and sent to jail through this operation.
4,237 people were granted emergency parole during the Corona disaster. Out of them 451 convicts never returned to jail. 357 of them have been charged with absconding.
