CRTI conferred RTI Award on PCA – Pakistan

Karachi: On the occasion of International Right to Know Day 2022, Right to Information Day was also celebrated in Pakistan.

At a function held at a local hotel, the Coalition on Right to Information (CRTI) awarded RTI Award to PCAA for its services to Right to Information.

Director Airport Services Sadiq Ur Rahman received the award. Celebrating Right to Information (RTI) Day, a journalist, a citizen and a Public Information Officer (PIO) were given awards for their services at the national level. The Pakistan Civil Aviation Authority was awarded the RTI Award in the Department category for its dedicated service towards transparency and implementation of the Right to Information Act in letter and spirit.

The event was organized by Center for Peace and Development Initiatives (CPDI) in collaboration with Sindh Information Commission (SIC) and Frederick Nauman Foundation Pakistan (FNF). Executive Director CPDI Mukhtar Ahmed, Information Commissioner, Sindh Information Commission (SIC) Shahid Jatoi, Information Commissioner, Sindh Information Commission Saima Agha, Chairman Sindh Bar Shahab Sarkar, MQM-P MPA Rana Ansar, PPPP MPA Sharmila Farooqui, Labor and Human Resource Minister Saeed Ghani and Brigitte Lam, head of the Frederick Nauman Foundation Pakistan, also attended the ceremony.

Since 2014, CRTI has been successfully organizing the annual RTI Champions Award to protect and promote the Right to Information of citizens organized by public bodies. CRTI is a forum of 53 civil society organizations working for Right to Information in Pakistan.
