Ever since Calcutta University came under the hands of Trinamool (TMC), Saraswati Puja started in all its campuses. College Street, Alipore, Salt Lake Technology Campus, Ballygunge Science College and Hazra Law College campus is mainly done by Trinamool Chhatra Parishad. Rajabazar Science College campus authorities still believe in Brahmo. That’s why TMCP does puja in the hostel even though no idol is worshiped in the campus. But in the last two-three years, problems have arisen with the rest of the campuses.

January 26 Saraswati Puja. In this situation, opposition student organizations such as SFI, DSO have appealed to the Registrar Devashiskumar Bose to intervene in the matter. SFI Calcutta University regional committee secretary Samprikta Basu complained, “Collection of fees from students by force in the name of Puja, incivility in the state of drunkenness on Puja day is under the leadership of Trinamool Chhatra Parishad. This cannot be allowed on campus. So inform the registrar sir.”

In the words of Shakyadeep Basu, one of the editors of the student council, “If the university gives the money for the puja to the TMCP, it becomes nineteen.” Since 2017, there is no student vote. This is done to prevent unrest.” TMCP dismissed these allegations. Abhirup Chakraborty, unit coordinator of 7 campuses of Calcutta University says, “This decision of the university will bring more transparency. Puja will be done by current students. Only the money will be given by tender.

Ashutosh Ghosh, the former vice-chancellor of Calcutta University, however, does not fully agree with this decision of the university. According to him, “Pujata students. The agency may handle the matter smoothly. However, students learn a lot by organizing pujas with their own hands. But I think it would be better if the students organized the puja keeping an eye on the organization of the puja.

Rabindra Bharati University Vice-Chancellor Pavitra Sarkar again said, “I do not understand the meaning of Saraswati Puja in the school, where there are students of different religions. But this decision is unprecedented. This thing does not seem to have ever happened in the history of Bengal.” That fun is the soil!” Although there is a risk of puja being corrupted in the students’ group dispute, Pavitrababu thinks.

The authorities discussed the whole matter among themselves on Friday. At the end, University Vice-Chancellor Ashish Chattopadhyay said, “The cost of the puja is borne by the university forever. This time Puja expenses of all campuses are being done centrally. Puja will be done by students. Tenders have been called as the cost is being borne by the university.
