Team India fast bowler Deepak Chahar is all set to play in IPL. He has not played against South Africa and Afghanistan recently. While he could not join the team due to family reasons, he said that he is now fit and wants to play in the T20 World Cup for India.
Chahar also said that MS Dhoni is fully fit and he should continue playing cricket for 2-3 years. Chahar played his last T20 match for India against Australia in Raipur, this match was played in December last year.
Chahar is taking care of his father
Deepak Chahar has been taking care of his father for the past 2 months. Who had a stroke in December. His father is now fully recovered, but Team India is not supposed to play any more T20 Internationals. So, Chahar will only return to cricket from IPL from March. He was a part of the 5-time champion Chennai Super Kings team.
Chahar said, father first
Deepak Chahar told news agency PTI, ‘Father comes first for me. I came here only because of him. What I have achieved is because of him. If I can’t be with him in his bad times, what kind of son will I be called?
Deepak took a break from cricket to take care of his father Lokendra Singh Chahar.
If there was a series in India, we would have played it.
Chahar said, ‘If the T-20 series against South Africa was held in India, I would have played for sure. Then I can travel 4-5 hours to reach the hospital. But it takes 2-3 days to arrive from South Africa. It was an easy decision for me to live with my father, every son would do the same.
I stayed with my father for 25 days in Aligarh hospital. We must all stay with him. I was completely away from cricket at that time. Working on fitness but unable to practice bowling. I haven’t practiced for a month, so I’m not ready for the Afghanistan series.
Perfect fit after NCA practice
Chahar said, ‘I have started practicing again at NCA (Bangalore). After staying here for a few days, I became completely fit. I have prepared well for IPL and World Cup. I couldn’t play in the last two World Cups because of injury, if I should have played both times.
Every team needs a bowler to bat at number 7, 8 and 9. I have also scored as many times as needed for Team India. So, if fit, he will definitely be part of the squad.
Deepak Chahar took 31 wickets in 25 T20s for India.
Dhoni should play for 2-3 years
Chahar credits his career development to former captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni. Chahar has played for CSK and Rising Pune Supergiants (RPS) under the captaincy of Dhoni. Chahar said, ‘I am comfortable with him after 2-3 years. Dhoni is like my elder brother.
He made me play full 14 matches in 2018 IPL, then only I will be selected for Team India. He has recovered from the injury and has to play cricket for 2-3 years. It will be difficult to play CSK without him but he said that he will play the last match of his career in Chennai.
Deepak Chahar says that Mahendra Singh Dhoni is fully fit.
