Defender Sonny Fergus signs new one-year contract with Whitby Town
After being recalled from loan at Pickering Town in November last year, Whitby’s youngster played a key role in the team of Lee Bullock and Nathan Haslam, scoring on his full league debut at Matlock Town, Liam Ryder writes,
The 21-year-old arrived at the Tobar Express Stadium from the Pikes at Turnbull Ground last summer and made 17 competitive appearances for the Seasiders in all competitions, his singles strike in that win against Matlock at Proctor Cars Stadium.
Fergus said: “I am happy. The club has been very good with me ever since I came so I have always wanted to sign here again. I never wanted to go anywhere else.
“I went on loan, but it’s been fantastic since I got back. I’m excited to get it on the line and I’m looking forward to starting in pre-season.”
Lee Bullock said: “Sony was the one we were definitely looking forward to retain. Last year was like a testing season for him if you like and he came up with flying colors in it.
“About going a better this year. I talked to him and I’m really looking forward to seeing him kick and progress. He has the energy, he has the qualities and he needs to be a really good player at this level.” Got physique for.”
