DMK’s seat reservation, Congress upset! It is thought that it will affect the northern states DMK’s seat reservation, Congress upset! The opinion is that it will affect the northern states
Chennai: The ruling DMK in Tamil Nadu has passed a resolution urging the central government to give reservation for Scheduled Tribes to the Adi Dravidians who converted to Christianity. Congress executives feel that if they express their opinion in favor of reservation, it will cause a big impact in their respective states.
On April 19, a resolution was passed in the Tamil Nadu Assembly urging the central government to provide reservation for Scheduled Tribes to Adi Dravidians who converted to Christianity.
This was supported by all other parties except BJP.
While introducing this resolution, Chief Minister Stalin said, ‘Even after conversion from Adi Dravidians, caste atrocities including untouchability continue.’
Opposition to this resolution, BJP MLA Vanathi spoke, was removed from the assembly note.
After that, he gave an interview, ‘Does the DMK and the government accept the existence of untouchability in Christianity? He alleged that this resolution has been brought to encourage religious conversion.
Although he supported the demand for reservation for Adi Dravida Christians, he did nothing for it when he was in power.
A committee led by senior leader Anthony gave a report to Sonia saying that ‘the reason for Congress’s defeat in the last 2014 Lok Sabha elections was its tendency to appease minorities’.
After that, even though state Congress leaders like Tamil Nadu and Andhra have requested about reservation for Adi Dravida Christians, the Congress does not insist on this at the national level.
This is because the Congress is worried that if the issue related to religion is highlighted in the election field, it will favor the BJP.
However, as a resolution has been passed in the Tamil Nadu assembly insisting on reservation for Adi Dravida Christians, the issue has become a topic of debate at the national level.
Due to this, the religious issue will come to the fore in the political field and in the electoral field. The Congress is worried that this will favor the BJP in the northern states.
In this regard, a Congress MP said:
The Congress did not object to the reservation of seats for Christians in Aditya. 90 percent of Christians in Tamil Nadu are voting for DMK.
Therefore, with a view to fulfilling the demand of the Christian congregations, Chief Minister Stalin has brought a resolution considering the vote bank.
If this is emphasized, the BJP will turn it into a religious issue. Due to this, there will not be a big problem in southern states like Tamil Nadu, Kerala, Andhra Pradesh; But, it will be favorable for BJP in northern states.
Congress should not support all the decisions taken by DMK according to the situation in Tamil Nadu; Can’t support.
This is what he said.
