Presidential Election Nomination: NDA presidential candidate Draupadi Murmu will file his nomination for the presidency today. Many senior BJP leaders and party leaders, including Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Defense Minister Rajnath Singh and Union Home Minister Amit Shah, will attend the nomination function for Draupadi Murmu. Two senior state government ministers representing Odisha’s ruling Biju Janata Dal (BJD) will also attend the Draupadi Murmu nomination function. The BJP and the YSRCP in the AP also expressed support for Murmu’s candidature. YCP Rajya Sabha MP Vijayasai Reddy and Lok Sabha leader MP Midhun Reddy are attending, the YCP said. YCP has said that AP CM YS Jaganmohan Reddy will not attend the function due to a cabinet meeting.
Murmu will start his election campaign after filing his nomination on Friday. She will travel across the country to meet leaders of various political parties and request for their support in this election. Statistically, Murmu’s chances of success are strong. If she wins, she will become the first tribal woman to become president of the country. She will also go on to become the second woman president in history.

Before filing his nomination, Draupadi Murmu on Thursday met Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Union Home Minister Amit Shah, Defense Minister Rajnath Singh and Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) president JP Nadda. Prime Minister Narendra Modi has said that the selection of Draupadi Murmu as the Presidential candidate is welcomed by all sections of the country. She was lauded on Twitter for having a good understanding of field-level issues and an excellent foresight on national development.
Murmu’s nomination paper was signed by several top leaders, including Prime Minister Modi and Nadda. If the candidates who want to contest as a state candidate are nominated by 50 people who have the right to vote in the state elections .. another 50 will have to be defeated.
Former Union Minister Yashwant Sinha will be the opposition’s presidential candidate tomorrow. Incumbent President Ramnath Kovind’s term ends on July 24. Polling for the presidential election will be held on July 18 and counting on July 21.
