Russia’s capital Moscow was attacked Tuesday morning by suspected kamikaze drones from Ukraine, just hours after continuous missile attacks on Kiev. The attacks damaged several buildings in Moscow’s wealthy suburbs, including the elite district of Rublyovka, southwest of the capital, the Daily Mail reported. Several explosions also occurred near Novo-Ogaryovo, the official residence of President Vladimir Putin.

Reports said clouds of dust were seen in the sky following a drone explosion near the village of Usovo. Explosive drones also struck blocks of flats in Leninsky Prospekt and Prosoyuznaya Street, about 6 miles from central Moscow, reportedly injuring several people and damaging buildings.

Ukraine had no immediate comment on the attack, the Daily Mail reported. According to the mayor of Moscow, two people were injured in the drone strike. Some buildings suffered minor damage in the attack. In addition, some Russian citizens were evacuated from two lightly damaged apartment blocks. Russia’s Defense Ministry claimed on a Telegram channel that Kiev carried out the attack using at least eight drones. These drones were shot down or diverted.

Local residents said they heard loud bangs followed by the smell of petrol, the Daily Mail reported. Some people caught a drone being shot down and a plume of smoke rising over the Moscow skyline. The Kremlin, which has launched a series of deadly airstrikes on Kiev, said there was currently no threat to Moscow residents.
