Fake job scam: 2 fraudsters arrested in Baramulla

Baramulla: Police in Baramulla have arrested two fraudsters involved in fake job scam and extortion.

On 11/01/2023, the police received information that two self-proclaimed political activists of Pattan area were demanding money on the assurance of making government arrangements. They are giving job and fake appointment orders and are also scaring the general public. Accordingly, police registered a case under relevant sections of law at Pattan police station and investigation was initiated, the police statement said.

During preliminary investigation, the police using all technical and human intelligence arrested 2 accused identified as Ubaid Nazir Sofi and Mohd Iqbal Mian involved in the crime.

During further investigation, the officials came to know that these scamsters were duping common people on the pretext of offering them jobs in the police department and extorting huge amounts from them. It also came to light that when the victim started demanding money back, they used to threaten her. Further investigation of the matter is on.

The general public is once again advised to be vigilant and not fall prey to fraudsters/fraudsters offering various benefits/deals.
