Farmer on fire at Superintendent of Police office


Pathan: A farmer who caught fire in front of the Superintendent of Police office in Pathan, Uttar Pradesh, died on Thursday without any treatment.

Krishnanpal, a 52-year-old farmer, had lodged a complaint with the police two weeks ago alleging that he had set fire to his farm and destroyed his crops. However, it is said that the police did not take any action on the complaint. As a result, Krishnanpal, who was in agony, set himself on fire in front of the Superintendent of Police’s office in Pathan on Wednesday. The injured were admitted to Srirammoodi Memorial Medical College Hospital in Bareilly. Authorities said Ava died Thursday without treatment there.

Earlier, five people, including police inspector Rajkumar Tiwari, were sacked in connection with the incident.
