FBR provides SIM block details of 5,000 non-files to telecom operators

Officials of the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) held meetings with the Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) and telecom operators to implement the Income Tax General Order.

According to FBR officials, the general order was issued under Section 114B of the Income Tax Ordinance 2001.

The purpose of the FBR meetings is to ensure the blocking of mobile SIMs of non-filers for the tax year 2023.

Telecom operators have agreed to manually block SIMs in small batches in recent meetings, details of blocking SIMs in 5,000 non-files have been provided by operators in telecom on Friday.

According to FBR officials, several batches are sent to telecom operators every day.

On the other hand, telecom operators have started sending messages to non-filers warning them against blocking SIMs.

According to officials, the partnership between the FBR and telecom operators is a reflection of their commitment to the supremacy of tax laws.

According to officials, blocking SIMs in non-files will increase tax collection, FBR appreciates the cooperation of all stakeholders participating in these meetings.

According to FBR officials, they will continue this partnership to build tax compliance in Pakistan on a strong foundation.
