Hong Kong-based airline Cathay Pacific has grounded Airbus jets due to engine problems.
Shares in British engine maker Rolls-Royce fell sharply after the company began an inspection of its entire fleet of Airbus planes after identifying faulty engine parts.
The carrier said Monday it had canceled 24 return flights it had operated since late Tuesday and that several planes would be out of service for several days.
This process is done under precautionary measures that will be tried to be completed soon.
Shares in the British company, the sole supplier of engines for the A350 long-haul jetliner, fell sharply. Shares fell as much as 8.8 percent after Cathay reported a problem with engine parts.
The failure was identified in a plane that was forced to return to Hong Kong during a flight to Zurich on Monday.
