Former Speaker Sedapatti Muthiah passed away

Former Tamil Nadu Legislative Assembly Speaker and DMK Election Committee Chairman Sedapatti Muthiah (age 77) passed away due to ill health in Madurai.

Sedapatti Muthiah passed away after receiving continuous treatment for 3 months at a private hospital in Madurai due to old age. He served as the Speaker of the Tamil Nadu Legislative Assembly from 1991 to 1996 during the AIADMK regime.

1977, 1980, 1984, 1991, he was elected as AIADMK Member of Legislative Assembly for 4 times in Sedapatti Constituency, so he was called as Sedapattiyar.

Sedapatti Muthiah, who left the AIADMK in 2006, continued to work with the DMK. Sedapatti Muthiah is survived by his wife Shakuntala, 2 daughters and 2 sons, the youngest son Manimaran is the DMK’s Madurai Suburban South District Secretary.
