Here’s the Real Reason to Turn on Airplane Mode When You Fly
We all know the routine by heart: Please make sure your seats are in an upright position, tray tables are placed, window shades are up, laptops are stored in the overhead compartment and electronic devices are set to flight mode.
Now, the first four are reasonable, aren’t they? The window shades need to be raised so that we can see if there is an emergency like a fire.
Tray tables should be placed and seated upright so that we can move out of the row quickly. Laptops can become projectiles in emergencies, as the seat back pockets are not strong enough to hold them.
And mobile phones need to be set to flight mode so they don’t create emergencies for airplanes, right? Well, it depends who you ask.
