Highway 89 crash kills one person and sends 5 others to hospital
One person is dead and five others are hospitalized in a two-vehicle crash Saturday morning on Highway 89 near Cookstown.
The accident happened around 10 a.m. in an area of ​​Highway 89 west of Veterans Drive, according to the OPP.
Police say a 70-year-old woman from Elliston, who was in a vehicle, died at the scene. The driver of that vehicle and a child were taken to a Toronto area hospital with life-threatening injuries.
The driver of the other vehicle, along with two children, were taken to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
According to the OPP, a portion of Highway 89 near the 5th Sideroad has reopened after being closed for several hours.
