Hijab not allowed during II PUC exams says Karnataka Education Minister BC Nagesh Hijab can’t come to PUC exam centers: Minister Nagesh said like a broken stick

Education Minister BS Nagesh has said that they cannot wear hijab to PUC exam centers.

Bengaluru: The second PUC Exams (PUC Exams 2023) will start from March 9, and the Minister of Primary and Secondary Education BC Nagesh has indicated that Hijab cannot be worn to the examination centers. Speaking to reporters in Bangalore today (March 03), Nagesh said that the second PUC examination will begin from March 9. He clarified that hijab is restricted to exam centers and those who come wearing hijab are not allowed to write the exam.

Muslim female students had appealed to college principals in various districts to allow them to write exams wearing hijab. Information from the department has come to know that Muslim girls in the colleges of Udupi, Chikkaballapur, Chamarajanagar and Bangalore rural districts had submitted a request to be allowed to write the examination wearing hijab. Meanwhile, the Department of School Education and Literacy has issued instructions to PU college principals and officials not to entertain such appeals.

Now the Education Minister BC Nagesh himself has responded and said that the second PUC exam will start from March 9. Hijab has been restricted to the examination centers and it has been clarified that those wearing hijab are not allowed to write the examination, the hijab case is under hearing in the Supreme Court. Therefore, he announced the decision as if there was no question of allowing hijab during the examination.
