- Brijbhushan was accused of sexual harassment by 7 women wrestlers, including a minor
- Navjot Singh Sidhu Jantar-Mantar arrived to support the wrestlers
The ongoing protest by wrestlers against Wrestling Federation of India (WFI) president and BJP MP Brijbhushan Sharan Singh seems to be getting hotter by the day. Seven women wrestlers, including a minor, have accused Brijabhushan of sexual harassment.
On the allegations leveled by the wrestlers, Brijbhushan said, ‘Earlier they were saying that I had sexually abused 100 children. Then they started saying that this happened to 1000 children. Did I eat roti made of Shilajit? He further said, ‘If these people go to Jantar-Mantar, I will resign.’ Brijbhushan made this statement while explaining himself during a conversation with a TV channel. He said the wrestlers protesting at Jantar-Mantar are politically motivated.
So the wrestlers sitting on Jantar-Mantar are demanding the arrest of Brijbhushan. He says that a case has been registered against Brijbhushan and he should be arrested now. This protest of wrestlers is now getting political support as well. While Congress General Secretary Priyanka Gandhi showed her support by visiting Jantar-Mantar, Aam Aadmi Party President Arvind Kejriwal met the wrestlers.
Navjot Singh Sidhu came in support of the wrestlers
Today, senior Congress leader Navjot Singh Sidhu said that he joined the ongoing protest against Brijbhushan Sharan Singh. Calling the protest a ‘satyagraha’, Sidhu said in a tweet that he would join the wrestlers at Jantar-Mantar in the afternoon. He went to Jantar-Mantar and met all the wrestlers.
Let us tell you that 2 FIRs have been registered against Brijbhushan. One of these relates to the allegation of a minor wrestler and is registered under the POCSO Act. On the other hand, another FIR is related to sexual harassment.
