ICT Police Nab Car Theft Duo In Major Crackdown; Stolen laptops, cash recovered

ISLAMABAD, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News – 19th Aug, 2024) In a significant development, the Industrial Area team of the Islamabad Capital Territory Police (ICT) has arrested two members of a notorious robbery gang of cars. The suspects, identified as Roman and Ikramullah, were arrested after a targeted operation that resulted in the recovery of valuable laptops and cash.

A Public Relations Officer from the ICT Police who spoke to this scribe on Monday said under the specific instructions of Deputy Inspector General (DIG) Syed Ali Raza, a crackdown on criminal elements has been launched to protect lives and the ownership of citizens. Acting on these directives, the Industrial Area Police used technical and human resources to properly capture the accused.

The individuals arrested confessed to a series of thefts involving laptops, money and mobile phones, committed by breaking the windows of vehicles. His criminal activities spread across various localities, including Shifa Parking, Blue Area, Sector G-9, and Faisal Masjid.

Malik Zahoor, the owner of Rajgan Motors and a vehicle dealer, praised the police for their recent success in apprehending the duo of car lifters who have caused significant distress in the community. “This successful operation marks a remarkable step forward in the fight against vehicle theft and restores a sense of security among residents,” he remarked.

However, a citizen Akram Ali also highlighted the ongoing problem of high-value theft from parked vehicles, citing his own experience where thieves stole equipment worth about 1.1 million from his Toyota Corolla parked in sector G-11. The recovery of which, he said, was still awaited.

He noted that thefts, including those of LCD batteries, have become increasingly routine. Ali urged the police to build on their recent success by strengthening security measures and take stricter actions to prevent such crimes in the future.
