Imran Khan filed a contempt of court petition against Pemra
Former Prime Minister and Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf Chairman Imran Khan filed a contempt of court petition in the Lahore High Court against the Pakistan Electronic Media Regulatory Authority (PEMRA) for not airing his speeches on TV channels.
According to ARY News, Imran Khan filed a contempt petition in the Lahore High Court through the mediation of Ahmed Pansuta Advocate, in which Chairman Pemra has been made a party.
It has been argued in the petition that the Lahore High Court has suspended the PEMRA ban notification, but despite this, it is being prevented from broadcasting on TV channels, which is a violation of fundamental rights.
The petitioner said that PEMRA is pressurizing TV channels not to broadcast Imran Khan’s speeches, so contempt of court action should be taken against PEMRA Chairman PEMRA.
