Instagram and WhatsApp services were suspended in Iran
TEHRAN: The Iranian government has shut down the service of meta-platforms Instagram and WhatsApp across the country, with other social media platforms already down in most parts of the country.
NetBlocks reports that protests in Iran began after the death of a girl in police custody, followed by protests, and Instagram and WhatsApp services have been shut down in the country during the protests.
According to the report, the servers of WhatsApp were also suspended a few hours after Instagram’s service was blocked.
The report also revealed that internet service has been completely shut down in some parts of Kurdistan province of western Iran since Monday, while internet service has been shut down in the capital Tehran and other parts of the country since Friday.
