J Shah, secretary, Board of Control for Cricket in India, has claimed that the IPL will get a special window in the FTP.
In an interview to a foreign news agency, BCCI secretary J Shah said that the next ICC Future Tours program calendar of the IPL would be extended by two and a half months.
The next international calendar in the Indian Premier League (IPL) will be extended by 10 weeks, Secretary J Shah told PTI.
Jay Shah said there were no immediate plans to add more franchises than the 10 teams and any future additions should not undermine the quality of the product.
According to Jay Shah, we are in talks with the ICC (International Cricket Council) and several other cricket boards for a special window for the IPL.
“I can assure you that the next ICCFTP (Future Tours Program) calendar will have a two and a half month window so that all the top international players can participate,” said Shah.
“Everyone benefits from this tournament and we have received a positive response from the ICC and other member boards,” he said.
It should be noted that the IPL was currently played for more than two months during which international cricket was almost effectively stopped.
In the future, the IPL will increase from the current 74 matches per season to 94 in 2027.
Jay Shah claims that the governing ICC is likely to discuss the FTP calendar from 2024 to 2031 next month.
