Islamabad High Court directs government to take action against blasphemous tweets

ISLAMABAD: The Islamabad High Court (IHC) has directed the Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) and the Ministry of Information Technology (IT) to take action on the petition against the defamatory tweets.

ISLAMABAD: The Islamabad High Court (IHC) has ruled on a petition filed against the insulting tweets of accursed Dutch politician Geert Wilders.

The apex court directed the PTA and the IT ministry to take steps to protect the religious sentiments of Muslims.

The court ruled that the IT ministry could take the matter to the federal cabinet for appropriate action, and that the government comply with court orders against the publication of blasphemous material on social media.

The court said that the petitioner has raised the issue of public interest, Geert Wilders is making insulting tweets, instructions must be issued to the federal government to protect the feelings of Muslims, PTA and the Ministry of Information Technology. Appropriate steps should be taken in this regard.
