MIRPUR-AJK, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News – 13th Aug, 2024) Altaf Hussain Wani, Senior Vice President of Jammu and Kashmir National Front (JKNF) has extended his congratulations to Pakistan on its Independence Day Independence while urging Kashmiris to observe India’s Independence. Day as a “Black Day” to protest India’s continued occupation of Kashmir.
In a statement issued on Tuesday, Altaf Hussain Wani expressed gratitude to Pakistan for its unwavering moral, political and diplomatic support to the Kashmiri people’s struggle for self-determination.
He emphasized that a strong and stable Pakistan is essential for the success of Kashmir’s freedom movement.
Wani expressed confidence that the current Pakistani government will continue to support the right of the Kashmiri people to self-determination, a right for which they have made immense sacrifices.
He highlighted the Kashmir issue as an unfinished chapter of the partition of the Indian subcontinent, asserting that a stable and prosperous Pakistan cannot be realized without the liberation of Kashmir from Indian rule.
Meanwhile, JKNF spokesperson Muhammad Haseeb Wani asked Kashmiris to observe India’s Independence Day as a “Black Day” to denounce India’s forced occupation of Kashmir.
He labeled India as the aggressor, arguing that a country that has deprived millions of Kashmiris of their fundamental rights and stolen their freedom by occupying their homeland has no legitimacy to celebrate Independence Day.
Wani also condemned India’s 2019 annexation of occupied Jammu and Kashmir, characterizing it as a blatant display of neo-colonialism, authoritarianism and pro-fascist tendencies.
