Madras High Court adjourned the cases against SP Velumani to October 12

The Madras High Court has adjourned the final hearing on the petitions filed by former Minister Velumani seeking cancellation of the Municipal Corporation tender malpractice case and property transfer cases to October 12.

Former minister S.P. Velumani had filed petitions in the Chennai High Court seeking cancellation of the cases filed against him by the Chennai and Coimbatore Municipal Corporations for tender malpractice and hoarding of assets.

These petitions came up for hearing before a bench of Justices PN Prakash and Deekaraman. At that time, Advocate Suresh, who appeared on behalf of the Crusader Movement, Chief Criminal Advocate Asan Muhammad Jinnah, who appeared on behalf of the Anti-Corruption Department, Senior Advocate Satish Parasaran, who appeared on behalf of former Minister Velumani, and Advocate Mohan explained the details of the transfer of the case to this session since the tender complaint was filed in 2018.

Subsequently, the judges adjourned the final hearing on the pleas seeking cancellation of the corporation tender malpractice case and property transfer case to October 12. The judges also ordered an extension of the stay imposed on filing the final report in the case.
